David joined Underpin & Makegood in 1983 and worked his way from working on site to his current role. David has managed a variety of projects, including underpinning the House of Lords, part of London Zoo, a significant section of London’s Guildhall and an 18th century farmhouse in rural France. As Chairman (currently in his second term in this role) of ASUC , the industries leading Trade Association and past Chairman of the Occupational Working Group that devised the NVQ qualification in underpinning, David’s site experience and qualifications as a Chartered Surveyor stand him in good stead to run and manage our Company, aided by his valued board and team of hugely experienced managers.
David has a particular affinity with period buildings and bygone construction techniques and is always keen to see damaged buildings restored in a sympathetic way to their former glory.
David is married, has 2 children, lives in North London and cites his interests as reading, football, cycling, golf, keeping fit and eating!
Heath joined Underpin & Makegood in 1998 as a Superstructure Repair Contracts Manager having specialised in insurance repair works for eight years prior. He progressed to his present role in 2003 heading up Bush Hill Construction and the superstructure repair division of Underpin and Makegood. With a hands on approach Heath works closely with our staff to successfully manage contracts from tender stage through to completion.

When he is not managing his work teams, he is receiving instructions from his team of five children at home in Hertfordshire
Graham has worked for the company since 1997, progressing from senior estimator through to contacts manager to becoming invited to join the board in 2005. Prior to this Graham worked within the property development markets as a Contracts Director and on major infrastructure projects in a variety of senior positions. Graham now takes responsibility for and oversees all of our underpinning activities and prides himself on giving a high quality service to all of our clients.
Graham is married and lives in South London
Kirk joined us in 2012 as piling manager having had over 20 years previous experience running the piling division of two other South East contractors.
Kirk has extensive knowledge of the restricted access piling market and has brought with him a number of fully experienced piling and underpinning teams.
Kirk has been brought in to develop the restricted access and new build piling/ underpinning side of the business.
Kirk & his family live in Kent and he is a keen Formula one and football fan.

Ali joined us in 1996 as a graduate civil engineer to bolster our design capacity and set up a CAD department. More recently and with the benefit of ample site experience, Ali now manages underpinning, piling and groundwork contracts, both inside and outside of the insurance markets. Commensurate with this activity, Ali’s role includes the management of the whole of the construction phase, which in today’s market includes total repair and redecoration of the affected property. Ali relishes further education, is a graduate member of the Institute of Civil Engineers (hoping to achieve full chartered status soon), has completed the site safety supervisor’s course and is fully conversant with all of the requirements of the CDM regulations 2007
Contract Manager – IEng AMIStructE
Barry re-joined Underpin & Makegood in March 2016, having previously worked with us from 2005-2007.
Barry started work at Taylor Woodrow and spent 9 years in the Structural Design & Special Projects Departments, whilst studying for his ONC & HNC in Civil Engineering Studies and obtaining IEng AMIStructE status, within the Institution of Structural Engineers.
Barry moved into the “Subsidence/Perils Market”, where he has largely worked since that time. He has worked for a number of the leading Engineering Consultants, Loss Adjuster & Contractors (including his own contracting & refurbishment company) in this sector and has been lucky enough to work with various experts in this field, gaining vast & invaluable experience, together with a good understanding of damage diagnosis & causation, contract/project management and various building repair techniques.
Barry is married and has a young family, who he loves spending his spare time with. He loves all types of sport, although is more limited to watching rather than actually playing nowadays. He regularly goes to the gym and tries to keep himself fit.
Office Manager/PA to MD
Sharon joined the group in 2007 having gained 10 prior years experience in various administrative roles – all gained with the one company. Sharon’s role is varied and incorporates all aspects of office management, PA to David Gakhar and overseeing our credit control team.
Michelle joined our secretarial and administrative team in 1997 and worked her way through many of the office functions to become a reliable, efficient and flexible member of our team. When an opportunity arose within our procurement department, Michelle applied and was successful in this role and has since worked her way to become our senior materials buyer, a role she patently enjoys, undertakes with enthusiasm and a role we consider to be paramount given the annual spend on building materials!
Paul started out working on the tools and gained invaluable experience with us (for 10 hard working site based years) and one of our competitors in constructing all types of Underpinning schemes. Paul then joined our supervisory staff, undertook some extensive Health and Safety managerial training, and is very well versed in managing site aspects of projects, ensuring technical difficulties are overcome, time constraints are met, householders expectations are adequately managed and that our works are carried out in a safe manner with no or managed risks to our staff, our clients and to the general public.
Accounts Office Manager
Francesca joined the group in 2015, bringing with her the benefit of her 11+ years’ experience in accounting roles. During her career so far she has experienced working in both large firms in the city, and small firms locally. Francesca thrives on a challenge. She enjoys going to the gym, cooking and travelling.
Katy joined the group this year (2017), bringing with her previous experience of working within a construction company and the benefit of her years’ within customer service. Katy is excited about being a part of our team. She enjoys shopping, cooking and relaxing with her two cats (Nelly and Molly).
We are very pleased to welcome Tillie as a valued member of our growing administrative team.
Tillie has previously worked in various call centres and as a customer services advisor for Barclays Bikes/TFL/SERCO – The Boris Bike!
Prior to that she was customer facing in pubs and hotels whilst studying at sixth form.
Tillie also undertook administrative work experience placements at NHS referrals and ARD systems.
In Tillie’s spare time she enjoys travelling, shopping and eating out as well as admitting to loving surprises – well what girl doesn’t!
Keith joined us in 2013 with 30 years’ experience in underpinning , structural slabs, piled rafts, concrete retaining walls and basement construction.
Keith progressed to the role of supervisor, overseeing both large and small piling projects and liaising with developers, site managers and contractors.
Keith enjoys watching all sports and is an avid football supporter travelling far and wide to watch his team play.
Office Manager (Scaffolding)
Tom started with M25 Scaffolding Ltd in 1996 and now has responsibility for and oversees all of the office functions of the business on a day to day basis. Tom has relevant NVQ qualifications for his role and maintains close contact with all managers and staff ensuring a close and effective communication channel for all parties.
Tom is married with 2 children and cites his hobbies as reading and football.
Lee has over 25 years scaffolding experience, all gained at M25 Scaffolding Limited. Lee started off in our scaffold yard as a fresh faced school leaver and after working up through the levels , has now held his Advanced Scaffolder Card together with an HGV licence for many years.
Constructing all types of scaffolding from basic independents to specialised design works, Lee’s experience gives him the knowledge to know what the client wants and expects, ensuring a quality service is given at all times to the highest of standards.
